Mesotherapy Overview

Mesotherapy is a treatment method that involves injecting various natural products, medications, and vitamins into the skin.

What is Mesotherapy Used For?

Mesotherapy was first used in France in 1952 to treat lymphatic and vascular system diseases. It has since been discovered that different substances can be injected to treat chronic pain, hair loss, bone and joint disorders, and conditions like psoriasis.

Today, mesotherapy is a non-surgical method that remains relevant for reducing body fat and improving body contours. Recently, it has been found that injecting certain substances can reduce adipose tissue, making mesotherapy applicable for weight loss, reducing cellulite, body shaping, wrinkle treatment, and facial rejuvenation.

How Does Mesotherapy Work?

In this technique, various substances are injected into the adipose tissue beneath the dermis, the middle layer of the skin, using a fine needle. Mesotherapy injections can include herbal extracts, vitamins, enzymes, hormones, and a combination of various vasodilators, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, beta-agonists, and antibiotics.

How Does Mesotherapy Treat Cellulite and Excess Fat?

Mesotherapy targets the factors that contribute to cellulite formation. Medications or combinations that break down fat tissue, regulate circulation, and eliminate damaged connective tissue are administered, softening the skin’s surface. Mesotherapy can be applied to any body area affected by cellulite.

How Is Mesotherapy Used in Skin Rejuvenation Treatments?

Injecting various vitamins into the skin stimulates cell renewal, enhances activity, and promotes collagen and elastin production. Anti-aging mesotherapy can be initiated for preventive purposes from the mid-20s onward. Treatments are recommended a few times a year for the face, neck, arms, and hands.

Can Mesotherapy Be Used for Weight Loss?

The injected formulas in the treatment prevent fat accumulation in cells and facilitate the breakdown of existing cells.

The exact mechanism by which mesotherapy reduces adipose tissue is not well understood, and controlled studies are needed in this area.

How Many Sessions Are Required for Mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy typically requires between 3 to 15 sessions, usually performed at two-week intervals.

When Are Results Visible?

Results may vary based on the treated area and the severity of the condition, but effects are generally noticeable after the 2nd or 3rd session. In some cases, benefits can even be observed after the first session.

How Long Do the Effects Last?

In cases where adipose tissue is treated, results can be permanent if the patient maintains a proper diet and exercise regimen afterward. However, it is impossible to stop aging, which is a natural part of our appearance; therefore, treatments should be repeated at regular intervals.

Is the Treatment Painful?

There may be mild stinging or burning sensations during the treatment. Local anesthetic creams can be used to alleviate this discomfort.
