Cryolipolysis: A Cool Alternative to Liposuction
Cryolipolysis, or cold lipolysis, is a controlled and localized skin cooling method that freezes fat cells, rendering them non-functional. It is a well-known fact in dermatology that fat cells enter a programmed cell death process (apoptosis) when exposed to cold, a condition also referred to as “cold-induced panniculitis.” In cryolipolysis, fat cells are targeted using a specialized device, and the areas containing fat deposits are broken down through cold application. As the fat cells shrink and constrict under the influence of cold, they are eliminated from the body by the lymphatic system.
Cold Lipolysis Technique
- Non-Surgical: This treatment does not require surgical intervention.
- Painless: There is no pain, needles, injections, or similar procedures involved.
- Fat Cell Breakdown: Cryolipolysis freezes fat cells to trigger lipolysis, allowing them to be eliminated by the lymphatic system.
- Immediate Activation: The device begins to work actively as soon as it is placed on the treatment area, gradually increasing its effects.
- Temperature Impact: Within 5 to 20 minutes of application, the device exhibits fat-dissolving effects at a temperature of 4°C.
- Safe for Surrounding Tissues: It does not harm surrounding tissues.
- Induces Apoptosis: It promotes the death of apoptotic fat cells.
- Natural Inflammatory Response: Following a naturally occurring inflammatory process, dead fat cells are expelled from the body, resulting in a reduction in fat layers.
- Harmless Application: It reduces fat tissue surrounding nerves, muscle tissue, and bones.
- Effective in Target Areas: It is particularly effective in areas where fat layers are dense.
